WHY SECOND CHANCE HEROES?
Second Chance Heroes prides itself in being a good partner to the laboratories that collaborate with us. Second Chance Heroes is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit in the state of Virginia. Since our inception, we have helped hundreds of former laboratory rats find homes.
Matchmaking and adopting individual animals directly from the laboratory can be time consuming and resource-intensive. Second Chance Heroes takes the work off your plate and screens adopters before placing them into homes.
Second Chance Heroes does not take a stance on animal research. We are a neutral organization that exists to be a resource to laboratories with rats that are eligible for life as pets.
Second Chance Heroes covers the cost of transportation from the laboratory to our Headquarters in Richmond, Virginia. Donations to help pay for transportation are appreciated but never required.
Some of our laboratory partners prefer to remain anonymous. We take confidentiality very seriously and take steps to ensure that our laboratory partners feel comfortable with every step of the process.
